Istita’ah – one who wanted to slaughter an animal on Eid Adha should have the financial means of slaughtering.
However some of our brethren has turned layya into show off (Riyyah) they buy ram or cow without intention to payback & make it as annual ceremony were they will show to public that, they are slaughtering animal as such they loosed the rewards from Allah Subhannahu Wa ta’alla.
THREE (3) CATEGORIES OF ANIMAL
1- The age of animal should meet minimum of one Year i.e, sheep & goat while Lamb is 6 months & it’s only for one person not shared
(2) 2 years in age for cows can be shared for 7 persons
(3) Camel of 5 years can be slaughtered and shared for 7 persons
CONDITION FOR UDHIYAH SACRIFICE
**The animal must be sound and healthy
** Prophet Muhammad SAWS said,” 4 categories of animal that are not accepted are: defect one eyed animal, lame animal whose limps is clearly known, a sick animal and emaciated animal.’
** One can spread his reward of Hadayyah by making intention during slaughtering as follows:
Bismillah Allahu Akbar Allahumma hatha anni wa an ahli bayti .
Ya Allah this is my behalf on behalf of my family, Allah will spread the reward to their family weather dead or alive.
** Slaughtering animal with oneself is better but, if u cannot do it, give it to someone who can do it properly but b present at the time of slaughtering.
** It’s Sunnah for a person who is doing the Hadayyah to eat from the meat which will served as his breakfast after returning from Eid.
SHEARING OF EID AL-ADHA MEAT
** Some scholars are of the opinion that the meat should be divided into 3:
One-third for u, one-third should be shared as a gift while other one-third should be given as charity.
** While sharing don’t forget ur neighbors even if they are non Muslim
* Don’t sell anything from the meat it will rendered ur sacrifice unrewarded.
Finally Allah promised to reward those who have been doing Hadayyah previously & can’t do it this year, his reward will be equal to a person who carried out Eid Adha slaughtering if only he do does it on Ihlaas.
