Hajj 2024: Kaduna, Sokoto, Kebbi tops list as 51, 447 Out of 75,000 Pilgrims paid via States Pilgrims Board

A total of 51, 447 Intending Pilgrims have paid for the 2024 Hajj through the State’s Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards and Agencies, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON)  has announced.

A Statement signed by Fatima Sanda Usara, Assistant Director of Public Affairs said “After the close of registration, the official number of intending pilgrims that registered for the 2024 Hajj from Nigeria stands at 51,447 under the government quota”.

The statement further gave breakdowns of how many numbers of pilgrims registered through the state’s Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards and Agencies. Kaduna Sokoto Kebbi and Kano top the list in the breakdown of the number of pilgrims that successfully registered for the 2024 Hajj exercise from each state.

Kaduna tops the list with 4,493 registered pilgrims. Sokoto has the second-highest number of pilgrims with 3,643 while Kebbi with 3,419 comes third. Kano booked 3,057 pilgrims to become the 4th state with the highest number of pilgrims for this year’s hajj.

It will be recalled that Saudi Arabia allocated 95,000 hajj seats to Nigeria for the 2024 hajj exercise. Thereafter, NAHCON shared the Hajj seats with States Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards and Private Hajj Operators. 75, 000 hajj seats were distributed to States and Armed Forces groups while the remaining 20,000 were distributed to Private Hajj Operators.

Meanwhile, Hajj Reporters was unable to get the exact number of pilgrims that have registered through Tour Operators as most of the Operators are currently in Saudi Arabia for Ramadan Umrah
