Hajj 2024: Kogi registered 460 pilgrims, not 13- Board Chair

The Chairman of the Kogi State Muslim Pilgrims Board, Sheikh Luqman Imam Abdullahi has registered 460 intending pilgrims for Hajj 2024, not 13 as captured by a statement from the Head of Public Affairs of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Fatima Sanda Usara on Saturday.

Speaking Exclusively to HAJJ REPORTERS Saturday morning, Sheikh Abdullahi said while it is true that only 13 pilgrims paid through the regular process of ‘pay as you go’, the commission had already registered all its 2024 hajj pilgrims under the Hajj Savings Scheme (HSS).

“Actually, we have 460 pilgrims in total including the 13 that were announced by NAHCON. The other 447 were all registered through the Hajj Saving Scheme. So Kogi has a contingent of 460 pilgrims, not 13” he said.

Mrs Usara had in a statement earlier stated that at the close of registration by NAHCON, “the official number of intending pilgrims that registered for the 2024 Hajj from Nigeria stands at 51,447 under the government quota”.

She then gave a list of pilgrims registered by each state, the armed forces and the Hajj Saving Scheme.

In the statement, NAHCON Stated that 1884 pilgrims were registered through the HSS.

When contacted, Mrs Usara said it is true that Kogi State and all other state pilgrims who paid through the HSS were captured in the numbers she released earlier.
