The national hajj commission of Nigeria has sworn in members of its newly created Anti Corruption and Transparency Unit.
The Chairman of NAHCON ZikrulLah Kunle Hassan inaugurated the unit at Hajj House in presence of Asst. Commissioner & Head of Monitoring and Intelligence Unit, Kufolati Kayode, who represented the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) Chairman, Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye
Hajj Reporters learnt that the swearing-in of the unit climaxed the process of having a body responsible for overseeing and instilling transparency within the Hajj industry in Nigeria.
Hajj Reporters recalls that previous board of NAHCON was given a nod to create an anti-fraud Unit but the process could not be completed before the exit of previous board.
The plan as gathered then was to create a unit comprises of members of anti-corruption agencies like EFCC, ICPC, NIA, and Police to form a pool within the commission.
With the swearing of the members of the Unit by NAHCON Chairman, the body is expected to commence operations immediately.
