The death of Sani Dalhatu Musa, the overseer of Kaduna State Muslim Pilgrims boards in a road crash along Kaduna – Abuja has created another vacuum in the hajj administrations just when the demise of Saudi Arabia Ambassador to Nigeria, Adnan Bostaji is yet to vanish from our memory.

A Hajj administrator with a speciality in field operation. He was on his way to attend a scheduled meeting of Forum of Chairmen/Secretaries of State Muslim Pilgrims Boards in Abuja when his car got an accident along with his driver and a former internal auditor of the board. Both the driver and the former auditor of the boards survived the crash.

Almighty Allah has told us in the Holy Quran that “Every soul will taste death, and you will only be given your [full] compensation on the Day of Resurrection. So he who is drawn away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has attained [his desire]. And what is the life of this world except the enjoyment of delusion.  (3:185).

Alh Sani Dalhatu Musa is a personal friend and a brother whom I have come to realise the true meaning of friend ‘in need and friend indeed”. Yes, you seek for him in need, he will be there and if you requests of him indeed, he will implement the deed.

On Tuesday at about 5pm, Sani Dalhatu Musa calls to apologise on why he could not attend my son’s Quranic graduation and asked me to meet him in the office so we could pray Maghrib together.  We prayed together at the pilgrims’ boards mosque and went to his office. We were together for 40 minutes where we discussed the threat pose by Coronavirus to 2020 hajj.

At about 1:15 pm yesterday, we meet along Katsina road and wave at each other. He forwarded a trending joke of ‘extension of visa by an Indian who resides in Saudi Arabia over the fear of Coronavirus at exactly 8:15 pm Tuesday night.

God is great! How do I know that I just had my last conversation with this humane and kind-hearted human beings? How will I realize that once again, I will lose another personal friend whom we have worked together in the service of pilgrims.

How could I have realised that a man who was recently appointed as Overseer of Kaduna State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board will not be around during hajj 2020?

What could possible pricks my reflective mind to fathom this fact of life that Sani Dalhatu Musa who just returned from pre hajj visits last will be laid to his last final grave soon?

During the Independent Hajj Reporters Hajj Excellence Award, Sani Dalhatu Musa emerged as the Best State Pilgrims Board Head of Operations (he has been nominated before he was eventually elevated and appointed overseer).

Coincidentally, the Award was presented to him by the Late Saudi Arabia Ambassador to Nigeria, Adnan Bostaji. The two great men in the service of pilgrims has passed away less than two months after one presented an award to the other.

May Almighty Allah forgives them and grants them Al Janna Firdausi Ameen
