Lalong is best Hajj friendly Governor, says ES pilgrims board

The Executive Secretary Plateau State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Barrister Auwal Abdullahi, has told the Plateau State House of Assembly, Committee on parastatals and world bank projects, that Governor Simon Lalong, is the best Hajj friendly Governor.

Barr. Abdullahi made the statement when he received the committee members on an oversight visit to the board.

The Executive Secretary said the primary responsibilities of the board, is to coordinate the process of hajj affair and ensure the welfare of the state pilgrims.

“In the last ten years the board has not witnessed abscondment of pilgrims.

“In 2018 we loss an elderly woman, whose child was living in Saudi Arabia, and had sponsored her pilgrimage, in which presence she died after failing illness,” he said.

According to him Governor Simon Lalong, has been very supportive of the board.

“The indefatigable Governor Simon Lalong, has been very wonderful, in taken care of the pilgrims coming from Plateau State.

“Last year the state has the highest number of sponsored pilgrims in the country.

“And the National Hajj Commission, although there is a change of leadership at the top, but they are planning to award our Governor as one of the best Hajj friendly in Nigeria,” he said.

Speaking earlier, House committee chairman, Hon. Pirfa Teym, said they were at the board to familiarised and asses situations aimed at understanding problems and areas of improvement.

Hon. Tyem, said the board leadership has done very well in hajj exercises, urging them to strive hard to do better than what was achieved.

“No one has absconded, no reports of irregularities and so it was commendable. We wish that this year’s pilgrimage will be better,” he said.

Hajj Reporters, have reported that the Executive Secretary of the board, Barrister Auwal Abdullahi, has been impacting series of reforms leading curbing corrupt practices and proper welfare of pilgrims, from the State.

Consequently, the House committee, assured the board that the House of Assembly will always look into its issues wherever they might arise.
